Scholarly Research

The Maps of Us: Generational Trauma, Community Building, and Creative Resistance

This anthropological research study assesses the impacts of generational trauma on socio-political progress in Amman, Jordan. The paper further explores the potential transformative, positive force of community-level mechanisms such as public spaces and the arts in peacebuilding efforts led by descendants of Palestinian refugees in Amman, Jordan. Chosen as 1 of 2 studies from a cohort of 30 students for publication, and selected for the Smithsonian Center for Folklife and Cultural Heritage’s Storytelling Workshop.
